Abstract As an alternative to mitigate the urban heat island effect, materials known as “cool surfaces” are a suitable passive technology for reducing transmittance into buildings and diminishing electricity demand cooling. However, due ageing, performance of cool surfaces becomes less effective, with decreasing solar reflectance generated by dust accumulation microbial growth. there is little literature on subject data usually present local perspective in durability which makes harder compare other cases. This research conducted systematic review works approaching natural ageing highly reflective identify main factors that influence albedo surfaces. The found were macroclimate, microclimate, tilt exposure, characteristics, substrate. analyses this highlight importance having general when studying durability, since agents don’t seem relevant evaluating case can be important comparing figure. inspection promoted study might help future better analyse their results connect diffuse knowledge current state art.
